Clairvyn 3D: walk through your floor plan before a single brick is laid

Plans are how architects think. Rooms are how everyone else does. The Clairvyn 3D Studio turns the plan Kozo draws for you into a lit, furnished building you can orbit, walk through, restyle and export, right in the browser.

The short version
  • Every Clairvyn floor plan opens as a 3D model in the browser. No install, no modelling, no waiting on a render farm.
  • Four cameras: Orbit, Top-down, Elevation and a first person Walk. The roof comes off with one click.
  • Change finishes per surface, per room or for every exterior wall. Switch furniture designs and fabrics.
  • Stairs, doors, windows and furniture come from the same data as the drawing, so 3D never disagrees with 2D.
  • Export PNG renders up to 4x and a full .glb model for Blender and other glTF tools.

Here is a thing we noticed early on. When we showed people a floor plan, architects leaned in and everyone else went quiet. A plan is a very efficient drawing, but it asks you to imagine height, light and how it feels to stand in the kitchen. Most clients cannot do that, and honestly, on a tired Friday, neither can we.

So we built the 3D Studio. It is not a separate modelling tool and it is not a pretty picture made after the fact. It is the plan itself, stood up into walls and rooms, lit by a real sun. The model below is rendered live on this page, not a video.

What the Clairvyn 3D Studio is

The Clairvyn 3D Studio is a browser based 3D viewer for floor plans generated by Kozo, the Clairvyn model that turns a written brief into a CAD ready layout. You open it from any floor plan in your chat, or flip the 2D/3D switch inside the editor. A few seconds later you are looking at the building.

It has one clear job split with the editor. The 2D editor owns the layout. Walls, rooms, doors, windows and furniture positions are decided there. The 3D Studio owns how it looks. Materials, paint, furniture styles, light, camera angles and exports live here. That split sounds small but it matters: you can try a dark walnut floor at midnight without any risk of nudging a wall by 20 mm.

What you see when you open it

Open 3D and the whole plan stands up in a few seconds, with nothing to set up:

  1. Walls at your storey height and real thickness, outside and in.
  2. Doors and windows in exactly the places and sizes shown on the drawing. Single, double, sliding and garage doors each look like what they are.
  3. Floors, ceilings, slabs and a roof for every room and every storey, open where the stairs pass through.
  4. Furniture in every furnished room, at the size the plan gives it, backed against the right wall and facing the right way.
  5. The site: ground and planting, plus a pool sunk into the ground or a car parked in the garage when your brief asked for them.

Four ways to look at a house

Different conversations need different views, so the Studio gives you four cameras.

Orbit, Top-down, Elevation and Walk.

Orbit

The default. Drag to circle the building, scroll or pinch to move closer, and double-click any surface to swing the view around it. Press F to frame the whole building again. With the roof off it becomes a doll's house view, which is still the fastest way to explain a layout to someone who has never read a plan.

Top-down

Straight down from above, like the plan but with depth, furniture and shadow. Good for checking circulation and furniture clearances at a glance.

Elevation

A flat, level view of the facade. Use it to judge proportion, window rhythm and how the house meets the ground.

Walk

A first person camera at standing eye height, inside the house. This is where clients go quiet in a good way. You get a real sense of how wide the living room feels and what you see from the sofa.

Click into the view and move with W A S D, look around with the mouse, hold Shift to walk faster and press Esc to let go. Walls stop you, furniture does not, so you never get stuck behind a sofa. To change floors, pick one from the floor selector.

A Roof toggle sits next to the cameras. Turn it off to look inside from Orbit or Elevation, turn it on for a finished exterior.

04

Labels and live dimensions

Two overlays make the model readable. Labels (L) float the room name over each space. Dimensions (D) add each room's width, depth and area. Both follow the units you asked for in your brief, metres or feet, because half of our users think in square feet and the other half would rather not.

Materials and paint, surface by surface

Click a surface and the Materials tab opens for it. You can change finishes on walls, floors, ceilings, the roof, parapets and the ground around the house. Each change can go exactly as far as you want it to:

  • Apply to surface changes just the face you clicked. One feature wall, one accent ceiling.
  • Apply to room carries it across every matching surface in that room.
  • Apply to all exterior walls restyles the facade in one go.
  • In kitchens, Apply to whole kitchen keeps counters and cabinets consistent.

Every surface only offers finishes that make sense for it. Floors get wood, tile, marble, stone, concrete and carpet. Interior walls get paint, plaster, tile, brick, wood, stone and wallpaper. Facades and roofs get render, brick, stone, concrete, wood and metal, and the ground gets grass, gravel, paving or concrete. Set a finish's scale and rotation so tiles and planks sit the way you want, and Reset any surface back to its default.

Floors come as real textures with the right sheen: oak that looks like oak, marble that catches the light, concrete that does not. Wall paint is a colour you choose.

Furniture, styles and finishes

Kozo furnishes a plan room by room: beds with bedside tables and wardrobes, living rooms with sofas and media units, kitchens with counters and appliances, bathrooms with fixtures zoned for water and privacy. In 3D, each of those pieces is built by Clairvyn at the size the plan gives it.

Select a piece and the Assets tab shows its design options as thumbnails. A sofa can be Modern, Chesterfield, Mid-century, Modular, Tuxedo or Camelback. Dining tables, beds and the rest have their own families. Then set finishes per part: fabric or leather on the cushions, wood on the legs, metal on the handles. Apply to whole room copies a finish to every matching piece in the room, Hide takes a piece out of the shot, and Reset puts it back as Kozo placed it.

One sofa, four designs, any fabric.

A few pieces do extra work. Garages get a parked car, a sedan, SUV or hatchback, so you can see if the bay really fits. Pools in the brief are sunk into the site.

Doors with character

Select a door and pick its design: an oversized pivot door for the entrance, a panelled double door, studded teak, or steel and glass. Garage doors have their own set: sectional, cedar slats, glass and aluminium, carriage house or roller shutter.

07

Stairs that actually climb

Stairs are where most floor plan tools quietly cheat. A box labelled STAIR that does not rise to the next floor is not a stair. Ours climb properly from one floor to the next, look the same in the drawing, the editor and 3D, and are sized to the National Building Code of India:

Riser
175 mm or less
Going
300 mm
Flight width
1.0 m
Landing
As deep as the flight is wide
Spiral
1.5 m diameter
Long flights
Split with a landing

Kozo picks the shape that suits the plan: a spiral on compact floors, an L or a U on bigger ones. Stairs stand in the living and circulation space, open to it, the way they do in real homes, and the corner inside an L is given to the room next door rather than wasted.

Then style it. Select the stair and choose its construction: concrete and tile, marble, closed timber, open riser timber, floating treads, twin steel stringers or a centre spine. Choose a railing: frameless glass, metal or timber balusters, steel cable, wrought iron, a solid half wall, or none. Finish with a round, square or flat handrail.

08

Multi-storey homes

For houses with more than one floor, a floor selector sits at the edge of the viewer. Pick the ground floor, first floor, a basement or the terrace. The active floor is solid and furnished while the others fade to a soft ghost, so you always know what sits above and below.

09

Sun, sky and shadows

Light sells a space. The Environment tab lets you set it properly:

  • Sky: pick from a set of real, high dynamic range skies. Each one sets a matching sun position to start from.
  • Sun azimuth moves the sun from east through south to west, the arc a real sun takes. You cannot put it somewhere it could never be.
  • Sun height takes you from long, low golden hour shadows to a hard noon.
  • Exposure brightens or darkens the whole scene, like a camera.
  • Background switches between the sky and a clean neutral studio backdrop for presentation shots.
  • Shadows on or off.

This is also a quick sanity check on orientation. Kozo lays out plans with daylight and ventilation in mind, and seeing where the afternoon sun lands on the living room is more convincing than any sentence we could write about it.

Saved views and quality settings

Found the perfect angle? The Views tab saves the current camera with a thumbnail. Come back tomorrow, click it, and you are exactly there again. Build a small set of views for a client meeting and step through them like slides.

The Quality tab has four tiers: Low, Medium, High and Ultra. The viewer picks one for your device automatically and you can override it. Lower tiers keep things smooth on older laptops, higher ones sharpen shadows and edges for final shots.

Renders and GLB export

Two exports live in the Export tab.

  • Render PNG captures the current view at 1x, 2x or 4x your screen size, with the pixel size shown before you render. 4x is there when your device can handle it.
  • Download 3D model (.glb) packs the whole building, furniture and materials into one glTF 2.0 file. Open it in Blender to take it further, or drop it into any tool that reads glTF.

How your 3D design is kept

Your materials, furniture choices, lighting and saved views are saved with the floor plan version they belong to. Open that version again and the 3D comes back exactly as you left it. If you have the same plan open in two tabs, the Studio tells you before one overwrites the other.

And because layout lives in the floor plan editor, the order of work is simple: generate with Kozo, adjust the plan in the editor, save, then open 3D to finish and present it.

Questions people ask us

What is the Clairvyn 3D Studio?

It is a 3D viewer built into Clairvyn that turns your floor plan into a furnished, lit 3D model inside the browser. It reads the same plan as the 2D editor, so walls, doors, windows, stairs and furniture are exactly where the drawing says they are.

Do I need to install anything to see my floor plan in 3D?

No. The 3D Studio runs in any modern browser with WebGL. There is no plugin, no download and no separate modelling step.

Can I walk through the floor plan in first person?

Yes. Walk mode puts the camera at standing eye height inside the house so you can move room to room the way a client would.

Can I change materials, paint colours and furniture in 3D?

Yes. Select a wall, floor, ceiling, roof or the ground to change its finish, for that surface, the whole room or every exterior wall. Select furniture to switch its design and its fabric, wood or metal finish.

Does changing something in 3D change my floor plan?

No. Layout lives in the 2D editor. The 3D Studio is for looking, finishing and presenting, so you can experiment freely without moving a wall by accident.

How do I export a 3D model of my floor plan?

Open the Export tab and choose Download 3D model. You get a single .glb file (glTF 2.0) that opens in Blender and in most tools that read glTF. The same tab renders PNG images at 1x, 2x or 4x your screen size.

Does the 3D viewer support multi-storey homes?

Yes. Pick a floor and the others fade to a ghost so you keep your bearings. Stairs are built to the same rise and going on both floors, so the climb lines up.

Is the 3D furniture the right size?

Yes. Every piece is sized to your plan, so a 1.8 m bed in the drawing is a 1.8 m bed in 3D, standing in the same spot and facing the same way.

Can I change the style of stairs and doors in 3D?

Yes. Select a stair to choose its construction, railing and handrail, from open riser timber to frameless glass. Select a door to pick its design, and garage doors have their own set of styles.

Your next plan is one prompt away. So is its 3D.

Describe the home you want, let Kozo draw it, then open it in 3D and walk in.
